Decisions That Please God

One of the things that I do with my blog is show you what God is doing in me. As God reveals Himself within me, I try to share this with you. Recently, God has convicted me about decisions–decisions which please Him. I want to allow God to lead me and to show me His will and His ways.

This may be what God is showing you as well. I have seen a hunger in many people to know God and to know God’s ways. Part of that is making decisions that please Him. If you would like to see a related discussion about Making Good Decisions, please click here.

Making decisions that please God demands answers to three questions.

First, are you dependent on God? Where do you put your trust? Psalm 91 is a psalm about God’s protection and care. All of us want God’s protection. How do we get that?

God gives His blessings to people who fellowship with Him. Psalm 91:1 says: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” Dwelling in God’s shelter means dwelling with God, living closely with Him, and learning and doing His ways. The King James Version of Psalm 91:1 refers to dwelling in the secret place of the Most High–a way of describing living in God’s presence.

To understand what this means, look at Isaiah 30:2. The prophet pronounced judgment on the people of Judah because they sought refuge in “Egypt’s shadow.” They were seeking shelter under Pharaoh’s protection and neglecting God.

We do this when we depend on money or weapons instead of the Most High.

Second, are you seeking God? Do you seek Him in Scripture? Are you letting Scripture mold your attitudes and desires? God wants us to know Him and therefore to know how He would decide.

Third, are you listening for His voice? God wants us to seek Him, and He wants us to follow His direction. We must be open to His guidance and obey His voice in our lives.

When we do these things, we will experience the providence of God’s shadow.

A.W. Tozer spoke of the blessing of following God: ” Outside of the will of God, there’s nothing I want. Inside the will of God , there’s nothing I fear.”

  1. Thank you.

He leads us in the Paths of Righteousness for His Name’s Sake.

May the Character of the Most High shine through us and His Likeness in us (image) radiate without shadow or variation.

    Blessings

  2. Ephesians 5:15-21 NKJV

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil…… Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is…..And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.

  3. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said, “We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done.”

    John 3:16, 17 John 15:5, 12, 17-25. 1 John 2:10.

    Action!
    Blessings…

  4. Thanks for breaking it down into simple actionable steps. It seems God’s will and my comfort zone are hardly ever in the same place.
