Today I intend to write about one of the biggest problems believer’s face.

It’s also has one of the easiest solutions.

The problem is how to get to the place I really want to be in my relationship with Christ. For example, you know you should be witnessing of your faith in Christ or tithing or letting your faith show up in your work or family or any number of other issues.

The problem is you are afraid, possibly not sure how this might change your life. You are not sure what to do and so you do nothing.

I want to propose a solution.

I have been tremendously influenced by F.B. Meyer, a Baptist pastor in England in the middle to late 1800’s. Meyer addressed the issue we all face. How do I get to where I need to be? How do I get the “want to” to do what I ought to do?

Meyer asked this question: “Are you willing to be made willing?” In other words, are you open to saying to God I want to change but I need you to change me? Are you willing to be made willing?

I have found this to be a major help in becoming more like Christ.

Meyer’s approach is a godly approach. In our weakness, Christ is strong. As we confess our fear and our weakness, Christ will bring about the changes within us that will allow us to get past our fear.

As we tell God we are willing to be made willing, we are exchanging our weakness for Christ’s strength.

As you face those areas where you know you need to change, confess your weakness and ask Christ for His strength. Let Him know you are willing to be made willing. Put this in the hands of God and you will be fine.
