What Is Christmas?

“God had promised that the Savior would be human, not an angel (Gen. 3:15; Heb. 2:16), a Jew, not a Gentile (Gen. 12:1-3; Num. 24:17). He would be from the tribe of Judah (Gen. 49:10), and the family of David (2 Sam. 7:1-17, born of a virgin (Isa. 7:14) in Bethlehem, the city of David (Mic. 5:2). All of this occurred just as the Scripture said . . .”–Warren Wiersbe, Be Compassionate, 31-32.

“The Christmas message is that there is hope for humanity, hope of pardon, hope of peace with God, hope of glory”–J.I. Packer.

“The Christmas story gives its triumphant answer: “Be not afraid”–Karl Barth.

Christmas is based on an exchange of gifts; the gift of God to man, his Son; and the gift of man to God, when we first give ourselves to God”–Vance Havner.

“The manger is a symbol of what can happen when Jesus Christ resides inside us. The ordinary suddenly becomes extraordinary”–Bill Hybels.

“The Son of God became man to enable men to become the sons of God”–C.S. Lewis.

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!”–Romans 8:38-39.

“Approach Christmas with an expectant hush rather than a last-minute rush.”

“Even before God created the heavens and the earth, He knew you and me, and He chose us! You and I were born because it was God’s good pleasure”–Kay Arthur.
