Why This Has Been a Great Week

Vacation Bible School has been a great time. It’s always a great time when you’re dealing with kids and talking about spiritual things.

But, there are specific areas where VBS/VBX has been great.

Here’s my list.

First, VBS has been great because we talked about God leading us through life. The theme verse for this week is Isaiah 30:21: “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or to the left.”

I am thrilled to think we are equipping kids to listen to God’s voice and to seek God’s will.

Second, VBS has been great because we have had the opportunity to encourage kids to know Christ. We have seen several who have trusted Him.

Each year VBS is one of the most fruitful areas of evangelism.

Third, VBS has been great because of the dedicated volunteers who faithfully participated. We would all be amazed to know how many people took a week of vacation to work with our students. God blesses that kind of dedication.

Fourth, VBS has been great because of the opportunity to share God’s Word. I agree with God: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. . . . Thy word I have hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:105, 111).

Fifth, VBS has been great because of all the teenagers and other graduates of VBS/VBX who come back every year to help others know God.

Sixth, VBS has been great because almost as many kids come from outside our church as from our church. I love having the opportunity to reach out to others.

Finally, VBS is great because of a church that provides financial resources to help take God and His Word to over 1000 children every year. Thank you for giving to God week by week that we might minister to children and our community with a great VBS.

  2. I too am thankful for FBC-Covington and their commitment to VBS. I saw pictures and videos. Hats off to Kevin and his team of volunteers.

  3. It was a great blessing to work with the children and other volunteers this week. I was tired every afternoon when I got home, but it was a “Good Tired”. Such a joy to get to know some of the children and young adults in our church that I would probably never get to know. God was definitely at work in our midst.

  4. Lakeside B. also had VBS this week. I missed working in VBS. Without VBS, I might have never kown how great our God is. My prayers were with all VBS and praying many came to know God as their Savior.
Thanks, to each one who makes VBS possible.

  5. It was uplifting seeing all the young people involved in leadership roles this week. They were loving & patient with the children in their groups. Arriving at church before 8am each morning with smiles on their faces was heartwarming. Bring up a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
