Mama

My sweet mother went to be with the Lord yesterday (August 17, 2019) at about 6:45 AM. She had just gotten out of bed and gently quit breathing.

My brother Vance and I were blessed to have such a wonderful mother. She was gentle, tender, and strong. She was a great encourager.

We were blessed to celebrate her 90th birthday August 9. The picture is from that day.

As I have reflected over the last 24 hours, I have had precious memories of times recently and long ago.

Many of you have helped me walk through this time. You have prayed and encouraged. Thank you for your kindness and support.

We will have her memorial service Tuesday, August 20 in Brantley, Alabama.

I think of my mother often. She passed away in 2015 and I still think of her most every day. One of the most important figures in any persons life is their mother. But, if not for my mom would Jesus Christ be a central figure in my life as well. A friend of mine always says, “My mothers scared knees are why I am here today.”
