Events Worth Mentioning

Shane Booker Called to Serve as Minister to Students

Last Sunday night the church met to conduct a congregational meeting.  Included in the meeting was a recommendation from the Personnel Ministry Team to call Shane Booker as our Minister to Students.  Shane received a unanimous vote.

Shane is excited to be here and to be working with the students of FBC.  He will start Monday, June 6, 2011, which is also the beginning of VBS-VBX.  We want to introduce him to as many VBX-ers as possible (VBX is made up of 5th and 6th grade students).  This will help the 5th and 6th graders and their parents get ready for the youth ministry.  It will give Shane a great start with meeting people–a lot of people!  Please introduce yourself and re-introduce yourself in the coming months.  There is only one of him but a lot of us!

VBS is the Premier Evangelistic Ministry of the Year

Please be in prayer for VBS.  It is the most effective tool to reach people in the church–not just FBC but across the broad spectrum of churches in America.  When we ask how many people were saved as a result of VBS, even I am amazed at how many people raise their hands.  Please make every effort to get your children to VBS.  You are the key to your children’s spiritual growth and development.

TV Ministry to Begin Next Sunday June 5th

We are thrilled that the TV ministry will begin next Sunday, June 5th at 10:00 AM on WGNO channel 26 in New Orleans.  You will be pleased with the professionalism evident in the production, and you will be thankful for the reach of WGNO.  We now have the opportunity to touch the entire Greater New Orleans region.  Please be in prayer for the effectiveness of the ministry, and please let family and friends know of the broadcast.  Use your DVR to view the program or purchase a DVD from FBC.

As always, thank you for your faithfulness to our God through His church.  You make all of the above ministries possible by your giving through FBC.  More giving on our part makes more ministry possible.
