It was winter and a boy who looked to be in the first or second grade struggled with the zipper on his jacket. I still occasionally struggle with the zipper on my jackets. Getting the two sides of the zipper lined up, holding both sides tight, and pulling the zipper just right isn’t easy.

After watching the boy try unsuccessfully to get the zipper started, a woman who looked about the age of the boy’s grandmother came to him to help. She whispered in his ear: “Let me show you the secret.”

She then aligned the two sides, put them together, and gently pulled the zipper until the jacket fit snugly around his chest. After a few seconds of looking at the jacket, the boy whispered back: “Why does it have to be a secret?”

How wonderful that God’s Word and God’s ways are not secrets. God desires that all should know Him and that no one should perish. God the Holy Spirit helps us with the “secret” things of God and makes them plain.

How important it is to hide God’s Word in our hearts so that in the difficult times of life His Word is sharp and powerful in our lives.
