My Thought Process for the New Sermon Series

School starts soon and I will begin a new sermon series on making significant changes in life. The title is: “Transformed: The Art of Living Differently.” The beginning of the school year is a great time to talk about changing life for the better.

I enjoy preaching from a series. Even though this is not preaching from a particular biblical book, it follows a theme that runs through Scripture.

The Word of God is all about transformation. God tells us not be conformed but to be transformed. The process of transformation brings us into right relationship with God and moves us toward God’s goal of our being conformed to the image of Christ. Notice the picture: we get out of the world’s mold, and we get into God’s mold. We become less and less like the world and more and more about Christ.

The series involves eight messages that will help people make radical changes in life. I became convinced about the need for this when I wrote an Easter welcome to those who attended Easter weekend. I wrote about those things that would make the biggest positive changes in their lives.

Think with me about how much stress, pressure, and anxiety that people experience. Changing the way they think and the way they act and react would make all the difference. That is the premise behind the sermon series. It is about the transformation that God wants to bring to all of life.

We raised our girls with this idea at the forefront. If you live your life in obedience to God and His way of life, you will give yourself the best life possible. I believe it with all my heart. A life lived in obedience to God is the best life possible.

Here are eight messages that can change your life in the most meaningful way.

August 7  Move From Conformed to Transformed (Romans 12:1-2).

August 14 Take the Next Step in Your Faith (Hebrews 5:12-14).

August 21 Put the Passion Back in Your Marriage (Ephesians 5:33).

August 28 Train Your Children in Wisdom (Deuteronomy 6:4-9).

September 4 Quit Letting Your Money Manage You (1 Timothy 6:6-10, 17-19).

September 11 Practice Gratitude (1 Thessalonians 1:2-5).

September 18 Keep Short Accounts (Romans 12:14-21).

September 25 Live With the End in Mind (Psalm 90:9-12)

The Word of God is instructive for life. When we follow God’s plan, we can live differently.
