Nice Paint Job

I received an email from Robert Bruce. He writes for a helpful website called Copyblogger. It went like this:

“I used to have a sweet 1986 Nissan 200 SX.

Thing had a fire-engine red paint job, perfect body, custom wheels, the whole package. She’d turn every head on a slow cruise through downtown, and we drove that main street many times together.

I eventually took her on a thousand mile road trip to Hollywood.

Somewhere around Bakersfield a faint pinging started, and a few hours later I was pushing her down a long road and into a mechanic’s shop somewhere deep in the Inland Empire.

The transmission was blown.

“Nice paint job,” the mechanic said, handing me the bill.

A lot of us think about websites this way.”

Actually, my job is people. That’s the way I think about us. We make sure that we are all dressed up on the outside, but we rarely take care of the inside. On the outside, we look great. On the inside, we need the help of a loving heavenly Father who came to make us truly new. “If any man is in Christ Jesus, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away. The new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We need to live as new people in Christ. Our new life in Christ equips us for the desert and everything else that we will experience in life.

It’s nice to have a great paint joy; it’s better to be new in Christ. Are you equipped for the future?
