First Baptist Church Welcomes Kevin Harless

Welcome Kevin Harless.

At our congregational meeting this past Wednesday, First Baptist Church unanimously called Kevin Harless as our Children’s Pastor.

We are grateful to have Kevin, Tiffany, Chloe, MacKenzie, and Graci Harless in our church. God blessed us by bringing them here, and we anticipate God’s continued blessings as Kevin oversees our children’s ministry.

The Harless family came to us from Panama City, Florida, where Kevin owned his own real estate firm. God interrupted those career plans when He called Kevin to the Gospel ministry. Kevin and Tiffany sold house and business and moved to our area to complete his training at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Kevin anticipates receiving his Master of Divinity degree in the next year.

Kevin first served on our staff in the children’s ministry by leading the Route 56 pre-teen ministry. For the past year, he has served as our Interim Children’s Minister and has proved himself as he worked with leaders and children in providing a first-class ministry.

How important is this ministry?

The children’s ministry at First Baptist Church is significantly larger than the average church in America. Actually, the average church in America is about 100 people. Last week more than 300 children studied the Word of God in our children’s ministry and more than 400 participated in either Bible Study or Kidstuf worship.

Last summer more than 1000 children studied the Word of God in our Vacation Bible School. We have one of the only Special Needs ministries in the state of Louisiana. We emphasize the Word of God as the way to establish strong character and right relationships with others.

How really important is this ministry? Our children’s ministry and our parents are charged with raising the next generation of Christians in America. Can there be anything more important?

Please welcome Kevin and his family, and please pray for God’s blessings as we seek to raise leaders for Christ.

  1. As the husband of a Children’s Minister who typed her papers at NOBTS, taught Sunday School under her direction for several years, observed her write and administer curuculum based on Abeka for preschoolders before there was curriculum for them, saw first hand her confront and conquer with unconditional Love the unlovable confilicted toddlers of those parents attending Seminary whose lives were turned upside down as they answered the Call, I say with ablosolute asssurance, I could not agree with you more!

As my father taught me: The best hope of God’s Plan for His People resides in the youngest among us. AMEN.

He will need the support and love of all God’s People. For there, in this Ministry, he will confront Satan’s warriors like no other, except perhaps Celebrate Recovery. The two areas which demonstrate in numbers, we can see, the effectiveness of Christ in the midst of His Body of Believers!

    Well Done Pastor Bailey!!!

  2. Well, I am just thrilled! Kevin had a great influence on my son Joseph. What a blessing he has been and will continue to be, I am sure! We sure do miss FBC-Covington, even though we love our new church. We wish continued blessings for you all!

  3. Kevin, Tiffany, Chloe, MacKenzie and Graci have been a blessing to me and my family. I am thankful to God for them and pray that I can be a blessing to them as they grow and serve God with FBC! Faith > Harlesses!
