What’s Your Story?: Top Posts For 2011 #8

People like people. Don’t think so? Just look at the number of people on Facebook and other social media sites. People are interested in the lives of other people and want to know their story. In a sense, we all want to know who we are and what makes us tick. We also want to know why other people are as they are.

This has become more and more clear to me as I have been involved in social media and particularly in writing my blog. On Christmas eve, I wrote concerning My Favorite Day Of The Year. (Click on the title to have a quick read of the post.) Christmas eve is my favorite day of the year and it’s all because of what my family did on Christmas eve. On this day more than any other, we were simply family. We enjoyed the time together.

I used the post to tell my story. For whatever reason, people loved it and spent the time to read it.

This desire to know others gives Christians a wonderful opportunity which we should use to help people know God and get connected to Him. Paul used every opportunity to tell his story. At least three times in the Acts, we get to read the story of Paul. He tells us of his life in the past and how God changed his life. He used his story to help other people know God.

You can do the same. Think though how you came to know God. Write it out. How was your life in the past? How has knowing Christ made you different? Practice your story and be ready to give an account of the hope you have in Christ.

I was asked once: “What is it that knowing Christ does for you right now?” People want to know if there is life before death. They want to know if Christ can make a difference in life.

Tomorrow, I will give you my testimony and particularly what Christ does for me right now. Hopefully, this will spur your thinking of how you can help other people know God.

  1. AMEN. The biggest miracle of God after what He did on the Cross after creation is the new creature He made available for His in Christ. A story line I never tire of hearing. It makes everything else in ones life a distant second. It joins us; “the tie that binds.”

  2. In the 5th paragraph before the end you stated that people want to know if there is life before death. I have pondered life after death, but only prayed that the life that has been so good to me will not be a burden and bring sorrow to my family and friends. Thanks for your faithful daily devotional.
