Quotes You Can Use (March 9, 2012)

“I am so thankful for the quiet written Word, for the history and presence of the church of the Lamb, for the lives of the saints and for the tireless, still conquests of the Spirit of God. These approach me. These I can approach, and through them I can approach God while he safely draws ever closer to me”–Dallas Willard, Hearing God: Developing a Conversational Relationship with God, 114.

“No greater need exists in our churches and personal lives today than for a new call to prayer. Indeed, I would venture to aver that prayerlessness is the most evident and endemic sin in our religious life. . . .In all the spiritual awakenings of biblical times and subsequent church history, there has never been a prayerless revival”–Stephen Olford.

“Interfere at any price and in any fashion when people start to pray, for real prayer is lethal to our cause”–one of the demons instructing his assistant Wormwood, in C. S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters.

“Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear”–Isaiah 59:1-2.

  1. I appreciate the testimony you share more than you’ll ever know. My Dad said whenever I had a gripe about anything, “Son, the first hundred years is the hardest!” It took reading his letters home from the German Front WWII and hearing as well as seeing first hand how he lived his life dependent on God to finally realize the “Theology” in his statement. It is the substance/purpose of why the Jefferson Parish Museum was founded as a touchstone encouragement to all who enter. To tell the story of countless lives who made our opportunities and succeeding generations possible through the way they lived and gave their lives in service to God and Country. For his generation serving our country was serving God. Those lives were lived as it says in the 23 Psalm and many other places, “He leads me in the paths of Righteousness for His Names sake.” It is on this side of eternity we are up against the evil one. Here is where the battle is fought. Here is where we are to prove what is that Good, Acceptable and Perfect Will of God. It is intended to be the hardest, as only in the difficulty do we realize the source of our strength and the depth of real Joy; to have Life and have it abundantly. It is the Purpose of God for the Body to recognize its members and compliment each other in His Glory through His provision for the Body, each finding His strength to do the calling intended. Romans 12: 1-6.

In short, , thanks for your encouraging words.
