It’s A Boy!

Emily and Luke

Martha and I were blessed to be awakened 4:30 Friday morning by hearing Emily say, “We’re on the way to the hospital.” Within an hour we were on our way to the hospital in Sugar Land, Texas, as well. It was a wonderful ride to the Houston area, especially after hearing Brad say that the baby was “here” and that Emily and Luke were fine.

His name is Luke Bradford Kirby, born at 7:53 AM and weighing in like a prize fighter at 7 pounds and 5.8 ounces.

This is grandchild number four for us, three boys and a girl.

Many of you who read this blog know us well, others of you only know of my writing. It doesn’t take long for you to understand how important family is to us. Years ago we had a talent contest at the church with all kinds of  “talent.” One of the acts was a standup comedien who did a “Waylon Bailey” spoof. It was hilarious and eye opening. Most of it was simply the way I talk about my family. I really wasn’t surprised.

Big Sister Reagan and Luke

I grew up in a “Leave It To Beaver” kind of family and intended to raise my family in much the same way. Martha grew up in a much different kind of family with a lot of pain and hurt but determined to have, as she put it, “a real family” some day. If you would like to read about some of her family struggles, her latest book, It Hurts But I’m Okay, gives a great look at a girl determined to have a happy, well adjusted family. We grew up in different circumstances but with a common goal for our family.

Honey and Doc with Luke

We have been tremendously blessed, and we know it. We thank our God for His blessings.
