We have an exciting July planned at First Baptist Church. In addition to World Changers next week and Winshape Camp the week after, we have four outstanding individuals to preach this month.
Saturday and Sunday, July 7 & 8–Senator Steve Russell
We are honored to have Senator Steve Russell speak to us this weekend. Senator Russell is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. In June 2003 Russell assumed command of 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry ‘Regulars’ during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and conducted combat operations in Tikrit, Iraq, from June 2003 to March 2004. His battalion was broadly covered in the media during the first year of the war and was a central player in the hunt and capture of Saddam Hussein. He authored We Got Him! on the capture of Saddam.
In 2008 he was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate where he has been an advocate for veterans, second amendment rights, adoption reform, and reducing the tax burden for working Oklahomans. Steve lives with his wife and five children in Oklahoma City.
Saturday and Sunday, July 14 & 15–Dr. Christian George
Dr. Christian George serves as Assistant Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies at Oklahoma Baptist University. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland where he studied his favorite Baptist hero, Charles Spurgeon. He is the author of several books.
Saturday and Sunday, July 21 & 22–Dr. Jay Johnston
We are thankful for the ministry of our Associate Pastor, Jay Johnston, who will be preaching the weekend of July 21 and 22. I know you appreciate Jay’s ministry and will enjoy Jay’s message.
Saturday and Sunday, July 28 & 29–Rev. Thomas Hammond
Thomas Hammond serves on the executive staff of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee, serving as Vice President of Convention Advancement. Thomas has served Southern Baptists in several capacities, including the North American Mission Board. He has served in the local church, as Director of Missions, and on the staff of the Ohio Baptist Convention. Recently, he served as Interim Pastor at Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
Please be in prayer for these men and for our worship services.
