Living Victoriously

Life is hard. We all acknowledge its difficulty. Since we live in a sinful and rebellious world, we will continue to experience difficulty.

That doesn’t mean we can’t live a victorious life in Christ. In fact, we are promised new life, hope, peace, joy, and a myriad of other blessings because we are “in Christ Jesus.” Paul stated what had happened in him and what happens to all who belong to Christ: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

I can’t think of anyone who exhibited the victory that comes in Christ more than the Gadarene Demoniac whose life story is given in Mark 5:1-20.

This man experienced the worst life has to offer and wound up with the best of human life because he met Christ.

Because Christ is in us we do not have to live defeated lives. We can live in victory.

How do we make this a reality?

I have four suggestions.

First, make the victorious life of Christ a prime goal for your life. Think about it daily. Pray for it when you wake up and before you go to bed. I find when I pray about areas God works in me to produce what He wants. Spend time each day seeking what God wants you to have.

Second, isolate particular needs that you recognize. For example, if you have problems with temper or other attitudinal areas, carry them to God in prayer each day.

Third, spend time in prayer seeking God’s blessings. Ask Him to give you the victory. Spend intense time asking God for His help. Do this repeatedly until you experience the victory.

Fourth, quote and pray Scripture concerning the new life in Christ. Two verses I recommend are 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Galatians 2:20. Praying Scripture will bless you and help to change you. If you would like an idea of how and why to pray Scripture, check this link.

Practice these things and you will begin to experience what God planned for you–the victorious life of Christ.

  1. Being responsible for the possessions of others can be very confusing to those on the outside of situations. What one freely gives and forgives of self, is not free to give or forgive when it is not their possession to give or forgive trespass. The slippery tongued take advantage in their pilfering. Finding the Light without shadow or variation for others to see is not easy regardless of how clear it is to self. Evil will always fain glory as the Tree planted by the rivers of water must wait for His Season refreshing its leaves. (Psalms 1) 40/40 The Word shall not return void.
    James 8: 13-18
“Who is wise and understanding among you? He should show his works by good conduct with wisdom’s gentleness. But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t brag and lie in defiance of the truth. Such wisdom does not come down from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every kind of evil. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without favoritism and hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” AMEN
As you have demonstrated, order and success come with help.
    Thank you Raboni.
    Blessings.

  2. Thanks Waylon. As always, your blog is informative, enlightening, and encouraging.
It seems to me that Living Victoriously and living forgiven go hand in hand. A few years ago, Dr. Jeff Warren published the book, Live Forgiven, which explains the truth that, even as Christ followers, we can’t fulfill His desires for our lives until we understand that His sacrifice, grace and forgiveness were TOTAL — our sins and guilt are written off as though they never happened. If God completely forgives us, then surely we can do the same, without baggage or guilt — live forgiven, live vicoriously.

  3. Last week you covered one of my favorite verses:
    Deuteronomy 10:16
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.

It is holds this place with me because it reminds all that it is the inward man that God sees and that matters to Him. If we are His it should matter to us a great deal. Of course this is a verse that both men and women can and should embrace. Can anything be more sensitive in anticipation, in satisfaction, more personal than what this verse describes. Truly it sets us up to understand the Apostle Paul’s statement, “Then I shall know even as I am known.” We will be a shadowy image no longer. Yet there is a way to draw close while we are on this side which has been provided from Beresheeth.

    Happy Staff Appreciation Day!
    Blessings
