Quotations You Can Use (November 2, 2012)

“… freedom is not a gift that tarries long in the hands of cowards: nor yet does it tarry long in the hands of the sluggard and the idler, in the hands of the man so much absorbed in the pursuit of pleasure or in the pursuit of gain, or so much wrapped up in his own easy home life as to be unable to take his part in the rough struggle with his fellow men for political supremacy. The people who say that they have not time to attend to politics are simply saying that they are unfit to live in a free community. Their place is under a despotism”–President Theodore Roosevelt.

God will not tolerate sin in the lives of His people. “Thank God that He will not make peace with sin in my heart. . . . I bless His name for the thunder of His authority, and for the profound conviction that He is fierce and furious in His anger against sin, wherever it manifests itself”–G. Campbell Morgan.

“It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare”–Mark Twain.

“The man of God can obey the Lord or he can cater to the whims of the people; he cannot do both”–Joe McKeever, www.Joemckeever.com.

  1. 😉 May have been Will Rogers who said: “Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.”

2 Corinthians 13:9 “9) in fact, we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong. We also pray for this: your maturity.”
Ephesians 3:16-19 “16) I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17) and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in Love, 18) may be able to comprehend with all the Saints what is the breadth and width, height and depth, 19) and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Philippians 1:9 “9) and I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment,”

A few days ago my wife commented to me regarding what the Northeast Sandy Victims may have learned from Katrina Victims in preparation. She was taken back about the reports of long gas lines and no batteries, etc. This caused me to think about numbers and percentages. You see, if all of the people on the Gulf coast were devastated, that number of people would only be a relatively small percentage there. Frustrating rhetoric often needs such perspective, the 20 mile up view. Man’s logic may lead down a perilous path. Interesting what God does for the few in the midst of the needs of many. The one who has Vision often stands isolated. Interesting.

    Blessings.
