Why Everyone Needs A No Whining Cup

Years ago someone gave me a “No Whining” coffee mug. Not long after, someone else gave me another one. Now, Martha and I both have special “No Whining” cups.

They gave me the mug because I believe in “no whining” and encourage myself and others not to whine.

I love my “No Whining” mug and drink coffee from it often.

Here’s why I think everyone should have a “No Whining” mug.

First, my “No Whining” mug reminds me that I have a heavenly Father in whom I can trust. Everyday is His day. I must rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24). To whine and complain indicates I do not really trust God. Whining shows that I am not thankful for the blessings and mercies of God which are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).

Second, I love my mug because it reminds others to think about whining as well. We influence the people around us, and we become like those we are around. Our attitudes are catching. The more we can remember to be positive and affirming rather than negative and complaining, the better off we will be.

Third, the mug makes me think more positively as I begin my day. When we act positively early in the morning the whole day becomes better. We all get to write our own story. As I write my narrative for the day, I am determining what the rest of the day should be like.

As your child goes off to school, pray with them and remind them this is the day the Lord has made. You will bless your children, yourself, and their teacher by starting the day off in a positive manner.

Finally–and most importantly–I have a “No Whining” mug to remind me to bless and not curse the people around me. My family and those who work with me need me to be as considerate to them as they are to me. When I think of their needs as important as mine, I will limit my whining and complaining.
