Congratulations To Brad Kirby

Congratulations to Brad Kirby on his beginning to serve as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Jensen Beach, Florida. Today will be his first day to preach as pastor of the church.

Martha and I flew down to meet them (and mainly to take 7 month old Luke) Thursday and flew back yesterday. We rejoiced to see the church building and enjoy the excitement of Brad and Emily as they begin this new adventure.

Being the pastor of a church is an adventure and beginning anew is a double adventure. We are thankful for how God has worked through both Brad and Emily. We have watched them both grow in the Lord and in ministry. We have seen Emily’s (our daughter) desire through the years to follow God. I can still see her telling me how she felt called to do ministry of some kind. We watched her give her summers for missions and work through the Baptist Campus Ministry at LSU.

When she married Brad, we saw how God had prepared both of them for this special calling. While I have said through the years that Brad is a “natural” at youth ministry, we can also see how God has been working to bring him to ministry as the lead pastor.

Jensen Beach is on the Atlantic Ocean between Fort Pierce and Fort Lauderdale. The ocean is beautiful and the climate is something I could get used to. Flowers bloom year round and the heater never came on!

The church is a diverse congregation of 700-800 in attendance. Many of the people this time of year are “snow-birds” from colder climates.

Please join me in praying for Brad, Emily, Reagan, and Luke as well as the congregation of FBC, Jensen Beach.

Please also remember to pray for your pastor and your church wherever you live. I promise you there’s nothing that will mean more to your church and your pastor.

  3. Congratulations to Brad and Emily! The church will be blessed to have such a great couple as their pastor. Praying for them as they make the transition to a new home and new church.

  4. I’m so happy for them! Southwest is running a special right now on flights between here and Ft. Lauderdale. I hope you are on their Ding fare list and also a RapidxRewards member so you get notification of all their special fares. Next time I’m in Ft. Lauderdale I’m going to attend their church

  5. Brad,

  6. We are thrilled for Brad, Emily and all they will serve. You are missed at FBC Covington! Thank you Brad for impacting our oldest grandson who years later still shows interest in how you are, where you are and what you say. We believe that is God in you. Hope you still have your hot rod-you are sure to be the “coolest” senior pastor in Florida. You’ve been blessed with a REALLY big can of Cheetos 🙂 WE LOVE THE KIRBYS!

  7. Brad and Emily,
How wonderful to read the news of your new senior post at FBC Jensen Beach. Emily, I included you because I know how much you will serve as I’ve watched your Mama’s dedication to the women at FBC Covington. I am thrilled for your little family! You both have so many gifts to offer your new congregation. May God bless you all every day.
