Quotations You Can Use (February 15, 2013)

“There is no panic in Heaven! God has no problems, only plans”–Corrie ten Boom.

“The church is an anvil that has worn out many hammers”–Theodore Beza.

“Parents often ask me to help them know how to counter the effects of this culture on their teen. Here is my answer: never has there been a greater need for relationships in the lives of our children. What your tween, teen, or young adult really needs is something only you can offer–your time, relationship, wisdom, and experience. . . .parents who commit to spend time with their children, building deep and lasting relationships with them, can greatly counter the effects this culture is having on them from preteen years all the way through young adulthood”–Mark Gregston, Tough Guys and Drama Queens: How Not to Get Blindsided by Your Child’s Teen Years, 25.

“What God looks for is not how correct your message is, but how correct your life is”–Watchman Nee, Spiritual Discernment, 27.

“The secret to . . . peace is, as great apprentices of Jesus have long known, being abandoned to God. . . . the person who is heartily abandoned to God knows that all shall be well because God is in charge of his or her life. My peace is the greatness of God. Because he, who not only loves me but is LOVE, is so great, I live beyond harm in his hands; and there is nothing that can happen to me that will not turn out to my good. Nothing. That is what Romans 8:28 really means. Because of this, ‘Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. . . (Isaiah 26:3, KJV)”–Dallas Willard, The Renovation of the Heart: Putting on the Character of Christ, 135.

  1. Thank you.

“So much more can be done for the cause of Christ if there were more who would understand His Design is to combine our many differences with His likemindedness, Romans 12:5.” Ed Matthew

    Blessings.

  2. My wife took me to the movies last night for Valentine’s Day. We are “Die Hard” fans. So of course we went to see, “A Good Day to Die Hard.” She loved it. I loved being with her. As a film critic I do not think too well of myself. I thought much less of the film than she did.

However, there are two lines in the film that hit me.

John McClane’s son asked his Dad, “Do you look for trouble or does it just find you?” McClane responds, “You know, I still ask myself that same question.”

    Blessings
