Quotations You Can Use (March 1, 2013)

“Mom and dads, your teens don’t need more friends; they need a parent. They need a close relationship with someone who is determined to teach them how to survive in a world where responsibility is an essential character trait”–Mark Gregston, Tough Guys and Drama Queens: How Not to Get Blindsided by Your Child’s Teen Years, 35.

“The church did the most for the world when the church was the least like the world”–G. Campbell Morgan.

“Multitudes of people have come to a full knowledge of God because in a moment of complete hopelessness they prayed ‘The Atheist’s Prayer’ or something like it: ‘O God, if there is a God, save my soul if I have a soul.’ When that is the true cry of the heart, of the inmost spirit of the individual, who has no longer any hope other than God, God hears and responds without fail. It is as if he has a ‘heart monitor’ installed in every person. And when the heart truly reaches out to God as God, no longer looking to itself or others, he responds with the gift of ‘life from above.’ In fact, God is constantly looking for people who will worship him ‘in spirit and in truth’ “–Dallas Willard, Renovation of the Heart: Putting on the Character of Christ, 149.

“If any man is willing to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from Myself”–John 7:17.

  1. The last quotation, John 7:17 is the quotation that has been upon my heart since yesterday’s passionate offering. It is a companion to Isaiah’s 53:6 which applies to “attitude of purpose” from micro to macro in every individual, every group, every society in every generation. It is so very important to get the context of His Purpose, especially as applied to “Unity” and “Harmony.” A leader who thanks followers for their loyalty better be understood that their “Loyalty” is appreciated because it is given first and foremost to The Anointed One, The One Who Saves, The Creator-Redeemer, The Father Who sent Him, The Holy Spirit Who walks along side and prepares the Way. Else, as the grass and flower that fades away, so will also the leader who dwells in “vanity.”

Thank you for His Instruction via you. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow…

And Jesus went into the stronghold of Israel’s religious leadership and began to teach and they were amazed and asked, “How does He know the Scriptures, since He hasn’t been trained?” (End of John 7:15 Holman)
    (16) Jesus answered them, “My teaching isn’t Mine, but is from the One who sent Me. (17) If anyone wants to do His will, he will understand whether the teaching is from God or if I am speaking on My own. (18) The one who speaks for himself seeks his own glory. But He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and unrighteousness is not in Him. (19) Didn’t Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law! Why do you want to kill Me?….. (24) Stop judging according to outward appearances, rather judge according to righteous judgement.”

As we celebrate Life (Romans 12:5 & 15) may we enable God’s Glory, His Purpose. AMEN

    Blessings.
