A Historic Weekend

This is a historic weekend for First Baptist Church. It begins the meeting of the Metarie Campus of First Baptist Church. We are thankful for all who have prayed and worked to make this day possible.

Please let me share with you my vision for the future of our church and our campuses.

First, we seek to be a church growing in God and His ways, following the teaching of Scripture and the model given us in Christ Jesus. Whatever we do, let us do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Colossians 3:17).

A church is made great by obedience to Christ. Let us be obedient to Him. Almost every day I begin my day by praying Psalm 19:14: “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

Second, we believe the Bible is the written word of God. We believe God’s instruction is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path (Psalm 119:105).

Third, we seek to take as many people as possible to heaven with us. We understand that salvation comes from God and God alone. It is by grace through faith, predicated completely on the blood of Jesus given for us on the cross.

Fourth, we seek the unity of the Spirit of God, knowing He calls us to harmony with one another. We believe that God’s people can bear with one another in spite of personality or politics. We believe God commands us to love one another and to care for one another.

Fifth, we believe God wants to use us to expand His kingdom both close to home and far away. For this reason, we continue to look for places to plant congregations and proclaim His name. We are thankful today to be part of those faithful congregations reaching the greater New Orleans area for Christ.
