A Tribute To My Mom

Happy Mother’s Day! May God bless all of us with a wonderful day as we honor our mothers and remember the contribution they have made to our lives.

I recognize Mother’s Day has a great deal of pain to go with the joy and happiness. For many people, Mother’s Day is a time to remember the inability to have children or children lost at an early age. Sometimes we mourn the mother we never knew or the mother who could not cope with life.

I also recognize God told us to honor our fathers and mothers. Paul reminded us this is the first commandment with a promise. Honoring parents blesses a society. Are we in danger of not “living long in the land which the Lord God has given” us? Have we forgotten the importance of the elderly and the unborn?

I want to give a tribute to my mom today. Mama, thank you for loving me and guiding me and being an example of Christ to me.

This is what my mom did for me.

First, mama and daddy took us to church. Even in that day, they did the unusual. I was born when my parents were 21 and 19. They were already faithful in church. I have never been without a church family and the tutelege of the Word of God. For that I am very thankful.

Second, my mother led me to Christ. She quoted Acts 16:31, and I believed.

Third, my mother taught me the importance of being positive. She certainly had a good role model. Her mother, my grandmother, was one of the most joyous, selfless people I have ever met. Both my mother and grandmother have “rolled with life’s punches” and have been great models of letting the difficulties of life form Godly character.

Fourth, my mother taught me to treat people kindly no matter how they treated me. This is a lesson rarely taught and demonstrated. I must admit I have never done this as well as she taught me, but I thank God for her teaching. Jesus, of course, gave us the ultimate example when He prayed for the Father to forgive those who crucified Him.

May God bless you today.

  1. Well said. It is interesting growing up in a family business and eventually coming to ones Mother’s aid in her time of need and becoming her partner in the family business.

I miss my Mother, my business partner. I am glad she is with her best partner in life, her Lord and Savior and one with Him with my Dad.

Happy Mother’s Day! And Dad would say, “Without me you wouldn’t be a Mother.” And Mother would say, “We did that!”

    Blessings.

  2. What a lovely tribute to your Mama.

My Mother was absolutely the biggest influence in my life. She was kind, generous and positive. She prayed
every day. Never, ever did she complain or gossip. She set an example to which I aspire, still. And how sweet
it is to see her in my own daughter with her daughter.

    Praise God!!!

  3. Thank You Lord for my Mom! She loves Jesus and her family. Four generations have heard how much Jesus loves them because of mom, many are now believers. My husband really heard The Gospel for the first time through mom. He now loves Jesus and our lives are forever changed for Christ! Mom has prayed, cared for and guided us through much in life always looking up and moving forward in faith. Thank You Lord for continuing to bless and keep her!
