Coming Events

Here are several important events we need to remember for the coming days.

First, this is Memorial Day weekend in America. We need to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We especially need to teach our children about this day and its significance. I will have a good story in tomorrow’s blog of a great way to teach children about the significance of this day.

Second, this Wednesday night at FBC is our first congregational meeting of the year. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 6:15 pm. The main item of business will be the proposed new educational building. Please be present for this important decision. We will have drawings of the building and a good idea of the direction we will take. You can read more about the building and the congregational meeting by clicking here.

Third, Vacation Bible School is a week away. This is one of the most exciting and memorable weeks of the year. VBS lets us reach out to children across our community and region. Last year we had over 1000 children present. Including our very large staff, more than 1400 people were on campus each day of VBS. About one-half of those who attend are not regular attenders of FBC. We are thankful for the opportunity to help others know Christ.

Fourth, FBC will host World Changers the week of June 23rd. World Changers is a practical, Christ-honoring week that seeks to proclaim Christ by changing our world through ministry to others. We will host about 300 teens from various churches across the country. They will work to help needy families with needed repairs on their houses.

Because of the large number of people living in our building for that week, we will meet that Sunday for worship only at the four regular times. As this event gets closer, we will give you more information.

I am thankful for those who minister and serve. I am also thankful to be part of a church where ministry is encouraged.

May God bless His church as we seek to minister in His name.

  1. This morning I was able to make a weekly deposit. In my usual fashion I talk to the teller noting the sign stating: Closed for Memorial Day. “Do you know what is celebrated on Memorial Day?” I asked. “There are enough T V shows about it you can’t miss knowing about that,” she responded. I then said, “It always amazes me to meet or hear of parents who are able to say, ‘We are privileged to be proud, our child gave their life for this country.’ It kinda takes my breath away. So, I look for ways to remind myself and others what we often take for granted, our liberty. God Bless you and please help me to remember, why we have Memorial Day.”

Jefferson Parish Museum is a reminder of the price of freedom, Romans 12:5.

    Blessings
