“The People Who Run VBS Could Run Small Countries”

This is a word of appreciation for all those who helped make Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Covington such a great success.

How good was it?

Well, we registered 1033 children and 487 volunteers for a total of 1520. Those volunteers were happy, enthusiastic, and motivated people (youth and adults) who made VBS work.

Wednesday 1183 volunteers and kids attended VBS, which was about the average for the week.

VBX (for fifth and sixth graders) had 269 kids present for Tuesday. Some kids start thinking they are too old for VBS at about 4th-6th grades. Our leadership team has overcome that by having a separate group for VBX and putting them in a separate area (The ROC). We are blessed to have The ROC to help provide that atmosphere.

On Wednesday, our leadership provided the plan of salvation for our older children. In VBX 26 children responded to the gospel. Trained volunteers responded to each child to help them with their decision. By the end of the week we had 45 first time decisions for Christ.

VBS at FBC is a fun environment with a serious message.

Adults don’t attend many events that aren’t “interesting;” children don’t attend many events that aren’t “fun.” VBS is fun, thus allowing us to share the life changing message of Christ with children whose minds and lives have not been so polluted by the world.

This is a shout out to all of you who made VBS work. Thank you for your faithfulness.

As I’ve said several times: “The people who run VBS at FBC could run small countries!”

  1. PTL for these new brothers and sisters. I agree VBS workers are the best! Really enjoyed being able to see the videos from across the ocean.

  2. If anyone is being called to serve & not sure where, there are areas in VBS & VBX for all ages. See you next June.
