Make The Most Of Everyday

Do you recognize the number 25,550? It’s 70 years times 365 days per year. If you live to age 70, you will have 25,550 days (with a few left over for leap year). Each of those leap year days will be precious.

It’s imperative for us to make the most of everyday.

I don’t think of myself as being very organized or a good time manager, but I do think of it a great deal. And, I want to be both efficient and effective in what I do.

If our days are numbered and few (as Scripture says), we simply must make the most of everyday.

This is a simple formula which can help you make the most of everyday. In the days ahead, I’ll try to expand on the formula to give some specifics for making your life count for God.

First, begin your day with God. When we begin our day with God, we, in a sense, place Him first in life and give Him charge over everything.

Over the last few years, I have learned this is essential for me in every aspect of my life. Spending the first few minutes of my day with God gives me peace and makes me more peaceful (thus blessing the people around me). It helps me determine what matters. I take time to pray through my calendar and therefore bless the people I will see during the day.

Second, determine God’s priorities. Most people will tell you to determine your priorities. What really matters is understanding what matters to God.

Determining God’s priorities will mean I put relationships where they belong and make the main things the main things. As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said: “Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least.”

Third, set a plan for everyday and follow it. This can be your “to do” list. Most people need a to do list to keep them organized. If you are doing the wrong things, a to do list is worthless. Your goal cannot be a clean desk and a full waste basket at the end of the day. Your goal must be accomplishing those things which matter to God and which help you be successful in life.

Fourth, ask God to teach you efficiency and effectiveness. While this may sound strange, remember God cares about every part of your life. He will help you make the most of everyday.

Fifth, reevaluate your life. Lives unevaluated likely will be shallow and without real growth. When we take hard looks at our life and submit our thoughts and decisions to God, we are much more ready to make significant progress.

Wherever you are in life, it’s not too late. Begin today making the most of each day God gives you.

  1. Follow your site always. Print out all. Miss seeing you. Ask Judy Camp to share my letter. Sometimes one just has to decide to do what they have to do. Not look back. Steve and I would like to start attending your Wed. bible study. Hope we will be welcome. Ever so fondly, Bebe.

  2. I noted the time on your blog is 0500 hrs. The time this hit my email is 1147 hrs. Knowing how much you appreciate quality control feed back, this information is provided to you.

As I read today’s offering I thought, “He’s said all this before.” “Interestingly enough, it is repackaged even better than before!”

Thanks! I hope (pray) to never get tired/weary of reading or doing “well doing.”

As one of your commenters previously said, I’m printing this too; and will share it.

    Blessings
