Faith, Kindness, Commitment, and Hope

“The man that believes will obey; failure to obey is convincing proof that there is not true faith present. To attempt the impossible God must give faith or there will be none, and He gives faith to the obedient heart only. Where real repentance is there is obedience; for repentance is not only sorrow for past failures and sins, it is a determination to begin now to do the will of God as He reveals it to us”–A.W. Tozer, Man–The Dwelling Place of God, 16.

“Christian commitment in Western culture may soon require more courage than ever before”–Jim Denison.

“The love the Bible enjoins is not the love of feeling; it is the love of willing, the willed tendency of the heart. . . .God never intended that such a being as man should be the plaything of his feelings. The emotional life is a proper and noble part of the total personality, but it is, by its very nature, of secondary importance. Religion lies in the will, and so does righteousness. The only good that God recognizes is a willed good; the only valid holiness is a willed holiness”–A.W. Tozer, Man: The Dwelling Place of God, 17.

‘What is the goal of our battles? The goal is a future where this earth will be covered with knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the bottom of the sea. Here on this earth a change of throne will take place, from the prince of darkness to the King of Light. The prince of this world, the prince of darkness, will be dethroned and Jesus, the King, the Prince of Light, the Messiah, will reign”–Corrie ten Boom, Not I, But Christ, 135-6.

  1. The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses. Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins. Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred. O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in Thee. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on Thee. Redeem (deliver) Your Chosen, O God, out of all his troubles. Psalm 25: 17-22
