Tim and My Lost IPad

In March, I visited my daughter and her family in Jensen Beach, Florida. We had a wonderful time as we spent time with the Kirbys following along with their schedule.

With a five year old and a one year old, Emily and Brad have a lot of activity and a lot of getting children in and out of car seats.

One afternoon we took Reagan to her gymnastics class. I took my iPad along with me. Unfortunately, I placed it on top of the automobile as I placed Luke in his carseat. You would have expected that I would never see it again. Even if it survived the crash from the car, someone would have picked it up and kept going.

That didn’t happen at all. Though it fell from the roof of the automobile, it didn’t break. And though it fell in an intersection on one of the busiest highways in south Florida, it survived. I was amazed when a man called and said, “I have your iPad.”

When I met Tim, I insisted he accept a small reward. He used it to buy VBS supplies for his church!

Last week, Tim posted this as a comment:

“Hey it’s Tim. I decided to click on this link one more time before deleting the shortcut and was surprised by all the comments. I am glad to have had this opportunity to serve. We had a fantastic VBS. Finding Waylon’s ipad continues to be a blessing as I am subscribed to this blog now and so are some of my friends and family.”

Isn’t it amazing how God works?

The whole ordeal reminded me of many truths I needed to remember.

First, God works all things together for good even when it’s nothing more than a lost iPad. I made a friend and got to help with someone else’s Vacation Bible School. How good was that?

Second, God has people all over the world. Isn’t it sad we assume the worst? God wonderfully does the best.

Third, because of my carelessness, Tim had the opportunity to show his faithfulness. He encouraged many people by simply being honest and caring.

Today, you may have an opportunity like that of Tim. How will you respond?

  1. What a great challenge to recognize: what the ‘evil one’ intends for harm, God is enabling each to use for God; because each has the opportunity to choose to bring Glory to God through Our Action of His Love.

What a great reminder of Romans 12:4 & 5. We are made interdependent for Success!

What a great reminder of our Human condition and His Purpose through it.

    Blessings

  2. What a great reminder to parents with small ones who seem to have these small catastrophes on a daily basis. God is working and moving through all the events in our days!

  3. Thanks again for sharing the ipad story. It confirms Romans 8:28. And look how many folks you reached through a “lost” ipad. How good,is that!! I❤❤❤ you!
