Advice For Meaningful Living

“Trust God. Love people. Be happy [In that order]”–Mark Graham.

“The genuinely renewed man will have a new life center. He will experience a new orientation affecting his whole personality. He will become aware of a different philosophic outlook. Things he once held to be of value may suddenly lose all their attraction for him and he may even hate some things he formerly loved”–A.W. Tozer, Man: The Dwelling Place of God, 32.

“The nation’s gross national product measures all except what makes life
worthwhile”–Bobby Kennedy, 1968 speech, University of Kansas.

“The great paradox of the Christian faith is that only by feeding others do we become fulfilled”–Mark Graham.

“Grief always crushes. The greater the grief, the more complete the crushing. And when grief crushes, we often lash out in bitterness. This is the nature of grief. But the crushing and the bitterness blind us to the possibility of what Gad can do with tragedy. We do God an injustice to blame Him for our tragedies. But we also do Him an injustice when we forget that He can use our tragedies to accomplish something good. When the world designs a Calvary, God engineers a resurrection”–Robert L. Cate, Help in Ages Past, Hope for Years to Come, 134-5.

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes”–Psalm 37:3-4,7.

  1. Just want you to know how much I look forward to your thoughtful and inspiring comments and insights each morning. What a wonderful leader our congregation has been blessed with. You add fuel to the purpose of each day for me, in the right direction, if only to be content with all God has given me and to be more praiseworthy of his gifts….and to love Him and others as my daily goal.

Wanted to let you know that you are being read and appreciated!!! Surely, it is sometimes a burden for you to always “be on stage”. We appreciate your faithfulness. My daughter, Monique Weiner, also tells me how much it means to her daily, although I will let that be her story!

I will continue to pray for your zest for God and your boldness in expressing God’s truths and commands.

  2. I am reminded of two quotes from this passage. One related to the building of the tabernacle: Everyone is to give according to the Blessing the Lord Thy God has given thee. And one from Karl Marx: From each according to his abilities, to each according to their needs. Each may be applied within the context of Romans 12: 4&5; keeping Romans 12:1-3 in mind as purpose and perspective reminders, the method of fulfilling the “model prayer.” Hebrews 13:3 also comes to mind, as I will explain.

We should reminded ourselves that Paul’s writings were to “Believers” regarding their conduct with one another before God and always challenging them to a like-mindedness in Christ.

May we fulfill the Model Prayer as we live in John 17:17 answering the Prayer of Our Lord and Savior.

    Blessings
