Your Family Is Tops

Your family is tops. At least, that’s what God thinks of it.

Where did I get that idea? From the Bible, of course. God believes in families. In fact, He started families. God cares about families. You would be very close to the truth if you were to say that God cares for families so much that not much else comes close.

Malachi 2:10-16 is all about families. God wants families to be strong and obedient. He desires Godly offspring.

Both the Old Testament and the New Testament underscore the value and importance of families to God and to society. Where you find strong families you find a strong soceity. When families start to crumble, societies crumble as well.

Unfortunately, that’s where we are with families in America. But you and I can do something about it.

Recently, a couple of our pastors visited and prayed with a family losing a grandparent to a serious illness. They gave Godly counsel about talking to their children about death.

Notice what happened. The pastors helped equip the parents, but the parents will help the children through this. That is God’s plan for the family.

You are essential to your family and your society.

Let me make a bold assessment. Nothing is hurting the work of the church like broken families.

What can we do to make a difference?

First, husbands and wives can be faithful to God and one another. Families rarely survive unfaithfulness and mistrust. This must be our promise to God and one another.

Second, families can learn and live the ways of God. You are the chief discipler of your children. They will learn what you know and do what you do.

Third, model Godly behavior. Do you pray, give, study Scripture? Your children will be like you in their devotion to God. Are you kind, tenderhearted, and caring toward others? Your children will probably be very similar to you.

We have the power to make a wonderful difference. Make it for God.

Would you send this to someone else? I hope to encourage families to live out their faith in our hurting and broken world.

  1. Indeed, children are the stars in a parent’s crown. The way I read the Hebrew, right after the First and Greatest Commandment is a demonstration of it to ones children. It is the job of a parent to teach children by example and Word their child’s every waking moment. It is God’s Love and His commitment to His realized by the parent in Loving their children that allows parents to put God First. An understanding of that commitment to God keeps families together. It puts Life in perspective. The needs of the flesh are temporal.

Further, in modeling God’s Love, allowing His Love to flow through the parents to the children, not only equips the children to find their uniqueness in God’s Plan, it Honors the parents of both Husband and Wife. “The first commandment with a Promise, to live long in the land which the Lord thy God has given Thee!”

You put it well Sunday. One cannot change the pass. One can make a change that effects a new Walk into the future, a circumcision of the Heart sensitive to His Will.

Thank you for the Example of the First Church, First human Family of God, restored to Relationship via Christ Jesus.

    Blessings
