Lost in Space

photoI wrote this Tuesday (New Year’s Eve) for publication Wednesday (New Year’s Day). It didn’t happen. Somehow it got lost somewhere in cyber space.

This is the post as it was originally meant to be published. I hope you enjoy it. The title was “Happy New Year from Pasadena.”

Martha and I want to wish you a Happy New Year from Pasadena, California.

We spent most of yesterday in Pasadena seeing the city and viewing the floats for today’s parade. We will spend today at the parade. Just by looking at the number of people in town yesterday, you can tell it will be a huge crowd, over a half million people.

New Year’s Day was really important in my family growing up–mainly because there were only four holidays that my dad didn’t work. On New Year’s day we started with the Tournament of Roses parade.

It’s hard for anyone from south Louisiana to be impressed with a parade but the number of people and the size and beauty of the floats is impressive. Television doesn’t do justice for this parade.

There’s a lot to like here and there’s a lot to not be pleased with. One of the floats–on aids awareness of all things–will have a same-sex wedding. We didn’t sign up for this when we made our plans.

All of this reminds us this world–even with its immense beauty–is not our home. Satan is a liar and he has many victims in this world.

On this first day of 2014, I am thankful for the hope which is in Christ. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  1. Waylon thanks so much for your daily posts. In this world all that is beautiful is not always good. Satan has a dedicated army of minions that are eagerly and jealously working double time on his agenda. The road to Hell is wide and easy, while the path to Heaven is narrow, winding and steep. Thank for encouraging so many of us, to help us, to stay on the narrow path.

  2. Happy New Year to you and Martha. I know you are both enjoying this time away and seeing the sights out there. Will be looking for you at the game tomorrow night. Hope Auburn comes through for all of us. Have a safe trip home. We missed you today, but Jay brought us a wonderful message. Looking forward to reading your blog in this new year. Thanks for everything you do !

I find it interesting that God the Father equipped us in Christ Jesus with the Power of the Holy Spirit to call upon Heaven’s Help that His Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Told us that we are in Him and He is in Us. Told us that we are His Bride who Believe (pisteuo) in Him. Had the Apostle Paul put it in the plain language of Romans 12 spelling out the paradigm in verses 4 & 5. Our promise is eternity but our work is here.
On my Business Card for Jefferson Parish Museum (JPM) is the thought out of the book of Hebrews which sums up Scripture and our Purpose: God Rested We Work. God Equipped us in His Creation and when He Rested we were left without excuse, to Work.

    Blessings
