The Kind Of Giving That Pleases God

“Our offerings to God are an indication of what’s in our hearts, ‘for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also’ (Matt. 6:21). People who claim to love the Lord and His work can easily prove it with their checkbooks! Giving is a grace (2 Cor. 8:1, 6-9), and if we’ve experienced the grace of God, we’ll have no problem giving generously to the Lord who has given so much to us. How can we ask God to be gracious to us and answer prayer (Mal. 1:9) if we’ve not practiced ‘grace giving’ ourselves?”–Warren Wiersbe, Be Amazed: Restoring an Attitude of Wonder and Worship, 178.

“Our gifts today can do a lot of good. They can feed the hungry, heal the sick, encourage the brokenhearted, and spread the good news. But most importantly, they can please God in heaven, connecting His children to Him. Think about that”–Jeff Anderson, Plastic Donuts.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”–Matthew 6:19-21.

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”–2 Corinthians 9:6-7.

“However, I have determined that this year I want my life to trend toward three godly goals: radically reducing the clutter–both physical and mental, eagerly and joyfully sharing out of my abundance, and intentionally loving God and loving people”–Martha Bailey, Marthabailey.com.

  1. You said last weekend, as I and many others along with you have said before: God speaks in hyperbole. And, He does it to make an impression regarding the importance of a point being made.

Tragically but true is the fact that we as humans tend to think and pigeon hole people and objects with the use of hyperbole. Long years of study and the collection of other studies have concluded that each generally thinks that they are being objective, their conclusions, or rational, reasonable. Having had a broad area of disciplines and cultural experiences, including socio-economic, leads me to understand that there will be very few that will grasp a message unless it is put into terms within the bounds of their experience. This is both powerful in understanding how to build consensus, as well as, promoting dissension. Likely as Paul’s eyesight failed him and he was no longer independent in his tent making to meet his physical needs, he went through the sobering experience of pride and dependence on the presence of God (Christ) in His Bride for those needs being met. Those that were harmful to Her/him were remembered and the alarm sent. Hard lessons of life which led him to write Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12. To present a picture of salvation without that understanding published in Scripture is to present an incomplete picture which may become a stumbling block to the Divine Paradigm which he presented as he explained the Words spoken and Prayed by The One Who Saves us, the Anointed One: Jesus Christ. “I BESEECH YOU, therefore…”

If you have a Mac Computer, you were greeted with “Happy Birthday Mac.” It struck me as a principle of Christ borrowed in the success of an idea with a purpose. And, I quote:
“In 1984, Apple introduced the world to Macintosh. It was designed to be so easy to use that people could actually use it. And it came with a promise — that the power of technology taken from a few and put in the hands of everyone, could change the world. That promise has been kept. Today we create, connect, share, and learn in ways that were unimaginable 30 years ago. Imagine what we can accomplish in the next 30 years.”

Imagine! We are here with a promise of Power and a Plan. You have done a wonderful thing, surviving many challenges and on-the-job training lessons. Having personally witnessed many flames flash, flicker and die, sometimes alone or nearly so, it has given me boldness to say, I preach Christ and Him providing a Way. The stones of His Path which keep us from sinking or falling away lie in each of His. Paul found this James wrote of this and John closed with the Light of this understanding. Amen.

    Thank you!
    Blessings
