Seven Ways to Bless Your Church

Do you wish your church could do better?

I often hear people complaining about their church, wishing that it could do better or do more.

To make your church better, you have to become better.

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to talk to the leadership group of a church. The title of my presentation was “Seven Ways to Bless Your Church (and Yourself).

My church will be like me. If I serve, minister, give, and pray, my church will be a ministering, giving, praying church.

Here are seven ways you can bless your church by growing closer to God in ministry and service.

1. Establish an intentional program to grow in your faith. Your church will grow as you grow.

I suggest setting up a plan to read and study the Bible and meet God in prayer. Most any plan will work, but you must work the plan.

2. Bracket your day. Begin and end the day by reading Scripture and praying. Don’t allow any time when you are not in touch with God.

3. Learn and live four life-giving words. It’s. Not. About. Me.

4. Practice what you preach. Let God bring change to your life. Jesus made His sermon who He was. When we grow in God and hear from Him, we will have messages that people want to hear.

5. Live positively. Take on the attitude of Christ. Think of things that are true, pure, and a blessing to others. Instead of whining, give thanks to God.

6. Practice WIN. Our churches will be blessed when we do Whatever Is Necessary to carry out the work of ministry.

7. Give. Give yourself for God. Give your gifts, treasure, and time to serve God and be a blessing to others.
