Abortion clinics in Texas are closing their doors–not all yet, but a significant number.

Recently, the 20th abortion clinic closed down in the state of Texas since the 2013 law that required abortionists to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The law also prohibits abortions after 20 weeks, the age when preborn babies begin to feel pain.

Even though both requirements seem sensible and quite logical, they are under heavy assault by those who favor abortion–at least those who are vocal.

I don’t quite get why admitting privileges are such a point of argument. Wouldn’t that be normal for any surgical procedure? I noticed recently that my ophthalmologist has admitting privileges at our local hospital.

An abortion is a hideous procedure. I have simply stopped reading the description of what takes place. While we can’t yet outlaw abortions, we can certainly seek to make it such that the infant doesn’t experience pain. Is this too much to ask?

The state of Louisiana has a law similar to the Texas law working its way through the legislature in this session. Many people believe the new law would have the effect of shutting all six abortion clinics in Louisiana.

The famous statement popularized by President Bill Clinton called for abortions to be legal, safe, and rare. We aren’t there on the rare part, but this law would require for a much more safe procedure. Abortion is quite invasive and can certainly be lethal.

Texas Values President Jonathan Saenz said: “It’s great that Texas leaders have said that this issue is so important, not only the innocent human being in the womb, but women deserve the highest standard of medical care and that’s what these laws represent.”

May the day come when our morality and our humanity truly follow God’s plan.
