Words Matter

“Let my words and my thoughts be pleasing to you, Lord, because you are my mighty rock and my protector”–Psalm 19:14.

“People who share what’s on their mind should be careful what’s on their mind”–Dan Rockwell.

“Several excuses are always less convincing than one”–Aldous Huxley.

“Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable”–David Augsburger.

“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them”–Ephesians 4:29.

“And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father”–Colossians 3:17.

“You know that our ancestors were told, ‘Don’t use the Lord’s name to make a promise unless you are going to keep it.’ But I tell you not to swear by anything when you make a promise! Heaven is God’s throne, so don’t swear by heaven. The earth is God’s footstool, so don’t swear by the earth. Jerusalem is the city of the great king, so don’t swear by it. Don’t swear by your own head. You cannot make one hair white or black. When you make a promise, say only ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ Anything else comes from the devil”–Matthew 5:33-37.
