I hope you’re having a good summer, and I hope you have time to get away and do some different things this year.

Martha and I are looking forward to our time in July when we do things differently, but we’re also looking forward to getting back in the fall and beginning a new season of ministry and service to our Lord.

Here are some of the things that will be happening around First Baptist Church this summer:

World Changers begins Saturday, June 21 and runs through the next Sunday, June 29. During this time we will have over 300 teenagers coming to St. Tammany Parish to minister in the name of Christ. Many of these will be housed at our facility. World Changers gives us an opportunity to reach out to the community and to be salt and light to a world in need of good news.

WinShape camp will be coming in July. WinShape  is a summer day camp designed to give kids what they really need – the good news of Jesus Christ in a fun-filled, safe, joy-packed environment.

Before you know it, the summer will have ended and school will have begun. We will be wondering how the summer went by so fast.

Promotion Sunday is August 4. That will mark the beginning of our new year of ministry.

There’s one thing about summer we have to be cautious about. It’s the fact that people’s lives and needs don’t change because it’s summertime. People still need to know the Lord and experience His redeeming touch.

Let’s make this summer a time to honor Christ by giving Him our best.
