When All Else Fails

I am amazed at how much difficulty some people experience in life.

We all know people who bring so much on themselves, but I am not thinking of those people. I am thinking of those who have seemingly (from the point of view of the world) done everything right but have experienced the worst difficulties of life.

Unfortunately, I have seen many people with these circumstances.

What do you do when all else fails?

Could I give some tender encouragements?

First, find a body of support of sound people with a great outlook on life. Sometimes these folks are hard to find, but generally speaking you can find them at church. If you are poor or hurting, the church is one place you need to be.

The Apostle Paul was one such person. Paul suffered imprisonment for doing exactly what Paul called him to do.

In spite of the unfairness of Paul’s circumstances, the Apostle looked for opportunities to help other people. He shared his faith and saw the gospel penetrating even Rome’s elite troops and Caesar’s household.

Could you not be affected positively by being around a person for whom Jesus was everything?

When Jesus is everything, you rejoice at what God is going to do rather than complain about what God hasn’t done.

Second, take responsibility for everything in your life. I know that if I allow myself, I can give myself excuses for the bad that happens in life. If you take responsibility, you naturally look for places where all has not failed. If you refuse to take responsibility, you will not look for solutions.

Third, cast yourself on the love and mercy of God. Seek to know God and to experience who He truly is. The more we know God the more our hurts take on a different feel.

Paul talked about the difficulties he experienced in life. One was his “thorn in the flesh.” Three times he begged the Lord to take it away. Each time the Lord responded with “My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).”

Paul finally decided to boast in his weakness. “Since I know it is all for Christ’s good, I am quite content with my weaknesses and with insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12: 10).

Life will be hard; times will be tough. I find great comfort knowing that God knows my hurts and will be with me through the difficulties of life.

This is due to the fact that at the same time actually becoming more and more cost-effective, their processing power is growing to the point where these are as strong as personal computers through just a few years back.
