Staff News–Shane Booker

Last week, we received the resignation of Shane Booker as Minister of Students at First Baptist Church.

Shane, Jessica, Carson, and Kloe will be moving to Panama City, Florida, where Shane will take a similar position at his and Jessica’s home church, FBC, Panama City.

Shane has served as our Student Pastor for the past three years and has made a significant impact on many students. I’ve heard from many students and parents concerning Shane’s wonderful contribution to their lives. He has particularly aided many of our students in their spiritual growth, including a great mission trip this past summer to Belize.

Our students will have a special time to honor Shane and his family tonight (Sunday night) at the ROC. You are invited to join with them in expressing your appreciation for Shane’s ministry. The time of appreciation will begin at 6:30 PM.

We wish Shane, Jessica, Carson, and Kloe the very best as they go to a new place of service.

This, of course, means that we will be looking for new leadership for our Student Ministry. We are fortunate to have several leaders who are ready to step forward during the transition. Bill Boren and Josh Jordan know the ministry well and will continue to lead and encourage students during this time. Jason Brooks leads the youth choir and will continue to make a huge contribution to our students.

At the same time, we have many parents and adults involved in student ministry. Shane has worked during his ministry to equip the student area with strong leadership. He is leaving us in good shape.

Please express your appreciation for Shane, his family, and his leadership over these past three years.

  1. Shane, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few”.. I remember your testimony in church a few years ago. Your love for the Lord is evident. I will miss seeing Jessica around but how great for your family a new opportunity to serve God!
