Three Things about Meeting God

Meeting God is a common occurrence throughout the Bible and in human history. God has made Himself known to His people in the past and desires for us to know Him as well.

Here are three things you need to remember about meeting God.

First, God wants to give you guidance. The real question has to do with your desire to know God. It’s up to you and me to decide how much guidance we receive. In his discussion of God’s making Himself known, A. W. Tozer said: “You can have as much of God as you wish.” He meant that God wants us to know Him. The question is how much you and I want to know God.

That’s the way it was with the people of Israel in the wilderness. They were content to let Moses go up the mountain to meet with God. God’s presence terrified them. They missed God’s presence because of their fear.

The same thing can happen to us.

Second, the Scripture is our best way to meet God. Reading, studying, and meditating on Scripture will help you understand what matters to God.

By delving deeply into God’s word, we can begin to discern God’s ways and God’s will.

Scripture is filled with principles we need. It is amazingly detailed and wonderfully helpful.

Third, we must seek God with all our heart and on a consistent basis. Hannah Whitehall Smith said it this way: “We can never know the full joy and privileges of the life hidden with Christ in God until we have learned the lesson of daily and hourly guidance.”

As we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.

Let us live in God’s daily guidance.
