Becoming Like God

” You have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Christians gradually become more like Christ. Through our union with Him, we put off our old reflexes and put on our new self. This change has a far-reaching impact. All believers are in union with Christ; all believers are in process of becoming more like Him. Gal. 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. The differences between us should be melting. . . .Our personality remains distinct; each person is a unique creation of God. But each believer grows more like our Lord in character and holiness”–John Kincaid.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters”–Romans 8:28-29.

“God’s priority is to save and sanctify His children; this is more important to Him than our comfort. God first appeals to our hearts with overwhelming blessing: controlling circumstances for our good through His providence, giving us His joy. But if we fail to seek Him, He will discipline us. We may grow too comfortable in our circumstances, and forget our desperate need to find fulfillment in Him alone”–John Kincaid.
