Dealing with Hatred and Persecution

“These are the worst of times since the Nazi era. On the streets, you hear things like ‘the Jews should be gassed, ‘the Jews should be burned–we haven’t had that in Germany for decades . . . . And it’s not just a German phenomenon. It’s an outbreak of hatred against Jews so intense that it’s very clear indeed”–The president of Germany’s Central Council of Jews.

“Most joyful will I confirm, with my blood, that truth which I have written and preached”–John Huss.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”–Galatians 2:20.

“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”–John 16:33.

“Don’t be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. We love by this, that He laid down His for us; and we ought  to lay down our lives for the brethren”–1 John 3:13-16.

“My father wasn’t worried about losing our country when he was growing up. That wasn’t the issue. Today, we are losing morally our nation, and the foundations of this country are collapsing and falling apart. . . . We have to take this very seriously and realize we’re losing our country, and we’re going to lose our freedoms that we’ve enjoyed as Christians in this country–we’re losing those quickly”–Franklin Graham.

  1. The hatred of Jews [anti-semitism] is a great mystery from the secular standpoint. There is no way to explain, for instance, why a nation that has not single Jew living in it [Iran] has a viscious hatred of them and wants to annihilate them from the face of the earth. The Jews have never, since moving into the small plot of land given to them by God, been an aggressive people; they have added immensely to the human family, they have quietly prospered wherever they have been consigned to live. The only way to explain anti-semitism is that the Prince of this World hates those whom God has chosen to bring blessing and Light to the human family. I challenge you to come up with any other explanation.
