My Greatest Stress Reliever

I am doing as much as I have ever done in my life. I am continuing to preach three times on Sunday, once on Saturday, once on Tuesday and once on Wednesday. I am working as many hours as I have ever worked.

I have less stress than I have ever had.

I am amazed and tremendously grateful to God.

What is it that has helped reduce my stress?

It may be a number of things. Maybe I have no idea why this is the case, but I really do think I know what is such a blessing to me.

Yesterday morning as I spent time with God–both in prayer and adoration and reading Scripture–I came to the conclusion that this is the most productive hour of the day

God has used my time with him to reduce my stress.

If I spend time with God and submit everything in my life to him, why should I have stress?

If God is for me, who can be against me (Romans 8:1)? If I yield to him, why should I not be able to handle the struggles of life?

If I pray about everything, why should I be anxious about anything (Philippians 4:6-7)?

Now, lest I sound as if I have everything together, I obviously don’t. I don’t have everything I need, but God has for me everything necessary.

My point is this: God wants to do a great work in us. Our issue is not with God; it’s with ourselves. My greatest problem is myself. My problem is within me.

It’s myself and my heart.

Is it open to God? Is it pleasing to God?

Are you receiving what God is ready to give you? Are you doing the things necessary to achieve your full potential?

You and I must work with God in the process of sanctification. We must allow God to renew our minds and to transform our hearts (Romans 12:1-2).

As I meet with God daily, I am moving beyond what I can do and receiving what only He can do.

It helps me live at peace–and that is a good thing.
