I was 17 years old, and I was struggling.

No, not struggling with life, but struggling with my future.

Deep down inside I knew God was leading me in places I had never been before.

I can assure you that I had never considered being a pastor or a preacher of the Gospel. I grew up in a wonderful Christian home, but neither I nor my parents had ever thought my life would turn out the way it has.

I was raised to love God and love his church, but I was also raised to be a businessman. God had something different in mind.

My pastor was a very perceptive man and an attentive pastor. He picked up on my struggle and offered to talk with me about it.

Except for one little phrase, we had an on unremarkable conversation.

That one phrase has changed my life.

As we discussed my struggle, he encouraged me to tell God I would do whatever He wanted for my life. He then told me to quit worrying because God would follow through with what He desired.

In the church office with my pastor, Bobby Brown, I prayed aloud promising God, “Lord, I’ll do what you want me to do.”

My life has never been the same.

I encourage you to pray this prayer. It changed my life. Committing to do whatever God desires doesn’t mean you will become a pastor, but it will be a day of great blessing.

When we open our lives to God we open ourselves to His blessings. Submitting yourself to God will bring peace and joy into your life.

That prayer didn’t end all of my struggles, but it did establish a foundation of a life with God.

“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun” (Psalm 37:5-6).
