What Time Is It?

I love the different seasons of the year.

Even though, we really don’t have seasons in south Louisiana, I love the differences in the seasons we do have.

And, by the way, I love the Louisiana joke that our seasons are shrimp, oyster, alligator, and crawfish.

You are in a season of your life. What are you going to do with your season?

The Preacher (Solomon in the Book of Ecclesiastes) said: “There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

Wherever you are, you need to make the most of your season.

Hopefully, your life is so peaceful and blessed that the only season you are thinking of is a lazy summer.

But if you are going through a season of fear, illness, or turmoil, I encourage you to let God teach and grow you through this season of your life. Make the most of your season. Don’t miss what God can teach you through the sorrows or the joys.

Recently, I wrote about making the most of your summer. You can view that blog by going to waylonbailey.com and search for Summer. It will pull it right up for you.

I encouraged my readers to use the summer to get to know God, read Scripture, learn something new, and find someone else to bless. I encourage you to do the same.

What about as a church? What can we do in this season?

We can use this summer to pour into the lives of our youngest generation. I have four grandchildren in this generation. Summer gives us time to emphasize God and His truths for life: “Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and when you are getting up again” (Deuteronomy 6:7).

We can also use the summer as a church to grow in God, learning what matters to Him and seeking to know and follow Him in all things. “May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer” (Psalm 19:14).

I would love for you to receive my devotionals each day. You can do so by subscribing at waylonbailey.com. Once you’ve signed up, you will receive my daily look at life and Scripture in your inbox each morning.
