I Want You to Study with Me

I want to invite you to study with me.

Here’s what I have in mind.

Let me teach you to take biblical principles and apply them to yourself, your family, your work, and your church. This is the approach I take each Tuesday morning when a number of our men meet for breakfast, fellowship, and a look at “Becoming Men of Influence.”

Beginning Tuesday, August 4, we will look at Proverbs. The Book of Proverbs is about Godly wisdom. It tells young men how to relate to wives, family, children, work, and the world around them. It gives them a Godly perspective on life and practical wisdom. In addition to providential wisdom, the Proverbs also give us preventive warnings.

Experience is the best teacher, but it’s best when you don’t learn from your own negative experience. The warnings in the Proverbs are to give us wisdom and experience without our having to experience the negative consequences of our experience.

Someone said, “Proverbs should be thought of as short lessons that come from long experiences.”

We invite the men and boys of our church to join us for our Tuesday Man’s Breakfast. You do not have to make a reservation. We begin at 6:30 and end promptly at 7:30.

Let me teach you with a line by line look at the Gospel of Luke. Luke, a Gentile physician who came to faith in Christ, wrote for a Roman leader known as Theophilus. He wanted Theophilus to “know the truth” concerning God’s work in sending Christ into the world. Luke said, “it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account” of God’s work.

This group meets Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. We go line by line through the Scripture and I teach history, geography, and theology as well as giving the meaning of the text and its application for life.

This is for the whole church. You are invited to join me in this study beginning August 5, at 6:30 PM.

Both of these groups meet in the church Fellowship Hall. You and your friends and family are invited.

I want to invite you to receive a free subscription to waylonbailey.com. Go to the area marked “Subscribe to Waylon’s Blog” and follow the directions and you will receive my daily look at life and Scripture from waylonbailey.com.

  1. Val and I will miss our church family in covington. We are still acclimating to our new life (however, don’t miss the heat and humidity!l) in upstate Ohio. We are searching for a new Baptist Church and may have found one in Cedar Hill Baptist Church, pastor Larry Green presiding.
