Where Are We in Our Building Expansion?

Oct.10Where are we in the expansion of our building?

Many of you attended a congregational meeting last week in which we discussed where we are in our building expansion. Let me give you some background and then bring you up-to-date on where we are.

Over the past several years, First Baptist Church has planned to expand our Bible study space, our area for meeting and greeting, and our worship center.

While we have not made the final vote to do all of this, the church has tasked the Strategy Planning Team with developing and setting in motion these plan.

Here’s where we are.

We are waiting on our architects to give us the final construction documents. As soon as that happens we should be able to come before the church with precise drawings of the buildings to be built and the guaranteed maximum price. That will allow us to determine the extent of our expansion. This is a big project and the cost of the buildings and the available money will be crucial.

Prior to that (in the next few weeks), we should have a price for our civil package. The civil package will include all drainage features and everything that has to be done below ground so that we can begin after the first of the year building above ground. The civil work will be very important preparation for everything else that will take place.

We had hoped to have that congregational meeting next week. That meeting has been postponed, and we hope to have it early in November. Please watch the Vision for details.

As you know, this is a very large project that will call for maximum effort on our part.

The results should allow us to expand the number of people who study the Bible and worship God through First Baptist Church.

Thank you for your faithfulness to make this happen. Please pray for the Strategy Planning Team as they make important decisions.
