How to Fix Most Anything

Nov.10Those who know me best will smile at what I’m about to say: I am not a fixer – upper.

I don’t like to fix things, and I don’t know how to fix things.

My dad worked very hard at running his business, and he let other people take care of the little things. It probably was a good business decision, but he didn’t help his first-born son learn how to do many things.

In spite of this, over the years I have learned how to fix things.

Here’s my solution.

Keep working at what you are fixing until the light comes on or it miraculously works out. (If you keep working at it, some things really do seem to miraculously work out).  You have to be patient and keep trying.

Also, you would be shocked to know how many people like to teach what they know and love – – which is fixing things. Get the counsel of good people who know how to do what you need and ask for their help.

While this plan works with doors that won’t open and computers that won’t cooperate, it really works best with the habits and hangups of life we all deal with.

Instead of giving up and saying, “I can’t do any better!” try again and determine to give yourself the time to bring about change in your life.

This is what I’ve noticed about myself.

Change only comes when several things take place. 1) I want it and desire it desperately. 2) I pray and take it before the Father continuously. 3) I make it one of the priorities of my life. 4) I think about it, work at it, and don’t give up.

As I have looked at my life, it really is amazing how many things can get better if you don’t give up and if you keep working at it.

Jesus told us to ask, seek, and knock. The verbs mean you should keep on asking, keep on seeking, and keep on knocking.

I pray that you will keep on and not be weary in doing well.
