Christmas and the New Year

Dec.19Everybody loves Christmas. At least, I know I do.

Though our lives have changed as we’ve moved from children to grandchildren and now an empty nest, I still get very excited about Christmas. I hope you do as well, and I pray God will bless you with a meaningful Christmas time.

Let me remind you about our schedule for Christmas and the holidays.

First, please remember we will not meet Wednesday December 23 or 30. We will resume Tuesday Men’s Breakfast and Wednesday Worship the first week of January. I hope you will enjoy the time with your family, and I look forward to seeing you as we resume our studies the first Tuesday and Wednesday of January.

Second, I look forward to seeing you Christmas Eve at one of our three worship services. We will meet at 3:00, 4:30, and 6:00 PM. This is one of the most meaningful worship experiences of the year as we observe the Lord’s Supper, sing carols with our expanded orchestra, and read and hear God’s Word.

Please plan to attend, and please invite others to join you.

Third, if you attend Saturday worship, remember we will not meet Saturday, December 26. That is the only Saturday of the year that we do not meet.

Finally, I hope you will use these next two weeks to prepare your heart for the new year and the rest of your life. As we begin the new year, we must ready our hearts and minds to live for God everyday and to glorify Him.

To aid in this, I will preach a series of sermons on holiness entitled “Holiness: Learning to Live for God.” God tells us to live holy lives. He also tells us that without holiness we cannot see God. “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14).
