Values that Count

“Life is built on character, and character is built on decisions. But decisions are based on values, and values must be accepted by faith. Moses made his life-changing decisions on the basis of values that other people thought were foolish (Heb. 11:24-29), but God honored his faith”–Warren Wiersbe.

“The Christian does not think that God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because he loves us”–C.S. Lewis.

“Faith is to believe what we do not see, and the reward is to see what we believe”–Augustine.

“Grace teaches us that God loves because of who God is, not because of who we are”–Philip Yancey

“The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government”–Thomas Jefferson.

“Abortion is not a sign that women are free, but a sign that they are desperate”–Frederica Mathewes-Green.

“Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’; expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’; vanity asks the question, ‘Is it popular?’; but conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’; and there comes a time when one must take a positon that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but because conscience tells one it is right”–Martin Luther King, Jr.
