How We’re Going to Build our New Buildings

Anytime a church goes through a building process, the church has to know how it’s going to be done.

Let me remind you of the process we have adopted.

We are now in the first part of our process. We are getting everything ready to begin the process of building the buildings. At this point, we are satisfying the St. Tammany Parish requirements for drainage work. That is what is happening behind the ROC. That will be a grassy area to detain drainage water before it is deposited in the creek and on to the river.

We are also cutting in the driveway around the new buildings and setting up the parking area associated with it. We will also construct a pond in the front near the new entrance from Murphy Road.

At the conclusion of this phase, we will vote to construct the building itself. We will have three main parts to the expansion. 1) a building for preschoolers (birth-4) and children (kindergarten-6th grade) for Bible Study, worship, and fellowship. We will use the present preschool and children’s space to house adult Bible Fellowship Groups; 2) a large commons area for fellowship and movement of people, including a bookstore and coffee shop, meeting rooms and ministry points (like a ministry area to equip families as they disciple their children); 3) a new 2400 seat worship center that will allow us to move to two worship services and accommodate large groups for special events as well as enough room for Easter and Christmas.

We all need to remember this: building a new addition is exciting, important, and necessary, but it’s not why we exist. We exist to help people know and accept Jesus Christ and through Him experience life-changing relationships.

While we are doing all the necessary things to build the new buildings, we will continue to make the main thing the main thing. We exist to honor and exalt God and disciple those who follow after Him. That must be our purpose and our goal.

Please pray for God’s leadership and blessings as we go through this process.
