Over a week ago, I asked Martha what she wanted for Valentine’s Day. She reacted positively, but she never gave me an answer!

Don’t worry. I have come up with my own answer.

Valentine’s day is a big deal, as it should be.

Social scientists have never come up with a satisfactory answer of why we are attracted to certain people and not others.

Why are we the way we are?

The only real answer is that we were created to love and to want to be loved. God saw that it was not good for the man to be alone. God created one who would come alongside the man. She would complete him. She would be devoted to him and him to her. This is God’s plan. It is part of the natural order, what we would describe as natural law.

Marriage, love, and devotion are found in every culture. It is God’s plan to sustain the race and to bless His people.

For this reason, I hope you spend the day worshiping God as well as speaking and showing your devotion to your spouse. Let it be a day of renewed devotion, both to God and to one another.
